BFME: Reforged is a non-commercial fan project, the authors of which transfer the strategy of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth on Unreal Engine 4. So far, the creators of the mod focus only on multiplayer mode, but can later add a single campaign.
For me, the popularity of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth, which the game has acquired in recent years, is simply nonsense. At the time of release, it was practically not distinguished among many other games under license. Almost everything in it was bad, but she tolerably respected the plot and style of the films of Peter Jackson, and also allowed to play with the forces of darkness. A sort of Battlefront from the world of strategy.
Alas, a set of games on the fabulous universe of Tolkien is so pathetic that even the inexpressive BFME shines with a bright star among all humiliating shitty games trying to expand this universe with the help of absurd delirium and the brown substance from which they are composed.
And for the fact that the real-time strategy (!) Has managed to transfer a piece of the atmosphere from good films (at least from them), can justify all the scarcity of gameplay and graphics. For the sake of justice, two years later even more dull Warhammer came out: Mark of Chaos, and no one has yet prepared a remaster for it. Hence, The Battle for Middle-earth is something unique and pleasant to some people.

In the same way, the long-suffering first part of Dawn of War hooked the players. And so different games have become very similar in one aspect - fans continue to support their lives, rivet the fashion and put on the hosting of epic video battles. But fans of BFME were much more fortunate, since modders from mediocre game fashioned a very good product.
The authors of BFME: Reforged were not too lazy and rewrote the whole code of the game, and even radically changed the gameplay of the game, correcting the old jambs of developers. They even to some extent solved the problem with lags in the multi-user mode, but have not yet optimized to the maximum possible.
Many changes have touched and graphics, because well, what's the point of transferring the game to a new engine? Just for the sake of simplifying the work on game mechanics? For the sake of the beauty of modern physics! Fighters face each other, feel the terrain, banners flutter in the wind, destructible objects crumble beautifully and believably. Naturally, in 2018 even a fan re-release of the game can not do without the support of 4K and high FPS values.
The only thing that can spoil this holiday is the reaction of Warner Bros. It is not yet, and this leaves a bitter uncertainty. The BFME team: Reforged is a bit naive (in the literal sense of the word) that the project is not for profit, but it is enough for lawyers to wave the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to close the project.
While all this business does without a single campaign, but if Warner Bros does not react to the public interest in fashion, it will certainly appear.
